Regular dish soap is formulated for everyday food soils, especially grease. But protein shake residue can be more complex.
Proteins, fats and other organic matter can remain trapped in lids, threads, seals and tiny surface scratches. If residue is left behind, microorganisms can break it down and produce unpleasant odors. Regular dish soap can’t break down the sulfur bonds that cause the odor.

Separate the lid, silicone seal, and mixing ball so you can clean every hard-to-reach area.
Apply ZEROTEIN with a little water, then use a sponge to scrub the lid, threads, spout, seal, and inside of the shaker.
Rinse thoroughly and allow all parts to air-dry completely before reassembling.

ZEROTEIN can be used to wash containers and equipment that regularly come into contact with protein ingredients and may develop lingering odors — for example production lines handling milk, whey protein, milk protein, plant protein, protein drinks and nutritional products, where protein residue, fats and odors can build up on containers, equipment or parts of the line.

Replace your shaker when it has worn to the point that it can no longer be cleaned thoroughly or kept as hygienic as before. Signs to look for:
ZEROTEIN can be used on PP, PE, Tritan™/Copolyester and PET plastics, stainless steel, silicone, rubber seals and glass. After use, always rinse thoroughly with clean water and let it air-dry — don’t close the lid while the container is still wet.
It depends on factors such as temperature, humidity and the type of protein, so there’s no fixed time. But if protein residue and moisture are left behind and the container sits at room temperature or in a car, unpleasant odors can start within a few hours to overnight — and usually get stronger the longer it’s left.
Check the lid inside and out, especially the threads and the rubber seal under the lid — that’s where protein residue most often stays behind and causes odor.
For stubborn odors, add about 6–8 drops of ZEROTEIN to 700 ml of water, mix well and soak for about 4–6 hours. Then rinse thoroughly with clean water and let it dry. Some materials with heavily set-in residue may need to soak overnight.
